The Northwest Chamber of Commerce monitors and reports upon legislation that affects Chamber members. On behalf of the Chamber, the Legislative Committee researches, reports and lobbies government officials in support of business-related legislation and initiatives. The Chamber is the voice of its members in northwest Baltimore County. All members of the Northwest Chamber of Commerce are encouraged to take an active part in the Chamber’s legislative affairs by becoming a member of the Legislative Committee.

Current Local Community Business Updates

Mill Station Update (June 2018)

During a Quarterly Meeting of the Owings Mills Corporate Roundtable on June 12, 2018, KIMCO representatives presented the updates for the new Mill Station property (formally know as the Owings Mills Mall).

The following anchor and junior anchor businesses have committed to the property:

Costco (includes Costco Gas)- Scheduled to open late August 2018

Lowes– Scheduled to open January 2019

Burlington – Scheduled to open by spring/summer of 2019

Marshalls– Scheduled to open by spring/summer of 2019

Five Below– Scheduled to open by spring/summer of 2019

Homesense- Scheduled to open by spring/summer of 2019

There is 600k square feet in retail space. To date, 75% of this space has been leased. Kimco predicts that there will be 25-30 new retail tenants when completely leased.

Mill Station will be completely pedestrian friendly with new sidewalks which will surround the property. There will also be a small pet-friendly and WIFI equipped green-space, perfect for lunches and relaxation.

 RIA’s Façade Improvement Pilot Program

As part of their commitment to enliven and Revitalize Main Street Reisterstown as well as the surrounding Baltimore County Designated areas, the Reisterstown Improvement Association has designed a program which offers designated funds to support matching grants for façade improvements of commercial properties.

The RIA Façade Grant provides a dollar-for-dollar matching grant (in the form of donated labor and materials, and/or cash allocations) to reduce the cash necessary to achieve substantial façade upgrades.
