COVID-19 Testing Sites Are Changing Hours
Coronavirus testing centers operating through the Maryland Department of Health are changing their hours for the summer. The Owings Mills VEIP station is among those adjusting its hours of operation.
Hours will be from 8 a.m. to noon for the summer instead of 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
To get tested, Marylanders do not need to have symptoms or suspect exposure to COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus..
However, they do need a doctor’s order and an appointment to get tested at the VEIP stations.
Those with questions can call the Baltimore County COVID-19 Hotline from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily at 410-887-3816.

The RIA’s Farmers’ Market is Open!
Opening day was Sunday, June 7th on the Main Street circle of Franklin Middle School from 9am-1pm. With the changes brought by the COVID-19 pandemic, we will work to be sure everyone enjoys the market safely. We will follow guidelines set forth by our Governor’s Office, Baltimore County Health Department, CDC, and Maryland Department of Agriculture.
Face coverings are required to enter the market. Harlan Custom Crafts will be setup at the entrance of the market selling homemade fabric masks. Vendors will be spaced 6-12 feet apart, vendors and staff will wear masks and gloves and our staff volunteers will be reminding you to social distance. There will be 1 entrance and 1 exit … please follow the signs!
Vendors will display samples of their products and pack your order from behind their table. Please keep your children with you at all time and do not allow them to touch the products on the tables!

4pmAs with the County Council’s Legislative Sessions, Work Sessions, and other public hearings convened during the COVID-19 pandemic, these public hearings will be held virtually via WebEx video teleconference.
At each virtual hearing, the County Council will take testimony on the recommended Comprehensive Zoning Map for the particular Councilmanic District in the County referred to in the schedule below and on the Final Report of the Planning Board.
The District 2 County Council CZMP hearing will take place on Tuesday, June 16 at 4 p.m. via WebEx video teleconference.
Anyone wishing to testify shall register in advance via email at countycouncil@baltimorecountymd.gov. Please provide your name and address with the CZMP Issue(s) number in the subject line of your email

A Call to Remove Civil War Plaque in the Maryland State House. The past two weeks have reignited our national conversation about the systemic racial injustice that continues throughout the United States of America.This week, I wrote a letter to the members of the State House Trust urging them, once again, to remove the “Maryland Remembers” plaque that honors Confederate soldiers.
State Leaders Discuss Race Disparities in Health. Since the earliest onset of the COVID-19 outbreak, legislators have called for the State to provide accurate, transparent data on how the virus is affecting African American and other minority communities. This week, Public Health experts updated the Joint COVID-19 Legislative Workgroup on the health disparities that exist during the COVID crisis.
Free Summer Meals Program. More than 400,000 Maryland children are eligible for free or reduced-price school meals, but they may not have access to nutritious meals during the summer when schools are closed. The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) is a federally-funded, state-administered program that provides healthy meals to youth when schools are not in session.
