Emily & Kathleen Shopped Reisterstown

What a great day on Reisterstown Main Street during their Holidays on Main event! Our Director and COO, Emily & Kathleen, shopped ’til they dropped this past Saturday while they visited a few of our members AR Workshop Reisterstown and My Purple Mat, LLC . Then they met a fellow member at Reter’s Crab House and Grille for lunch. Here are a few pictures of the day.

Legislative Updates

This week, the Maryland General Assembly convened for the 2021 Special Session to address veto overrides, pass a new Congressional map and elect a new State Treasurer. We successfully passed a Congressional map that is cleaner, more compact, and more competitive than our current map. The map also fully adheres to the Voting Rights Act to ensure all Maryland families can elect the candidates of their choice.

We also passed important workers’ rights legislation, criminal justice reforms, infrastructure investments, and, by an overwhelming majority, the legislature selected Chairman Dereck Davis to be Maryland’s new State Treasurer. As one of the House’s longest-serving committee chairmen, his deep institutional knowledge is only underscored by an impeccable record of success. Dereck Davis has never lost a bill on the House floor, demonstrating his ability to work with people for the good of the State. I am confident in his ability to oversee our State coffers as one of the State’s top economic officials and am proud to call him Maryland’s new State Treasurer.

In completing the work we started at the beginning of the year and advancing new leadership in Annapolis, the House, is prepared and ready to continue our work for the people of Maryland in the 2022 Legislative Session.

HB 719 – Provides greater protection to small businesses owners during the pandemic
HB 1209 – Requires all ridesharing companies to pay their fair share
