The Chamber Updates

A Message from your President

This year, I will be participating in Take Steps Maryland, a walk to raise awareness and funds for the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation.
My younger son, Marc Shapiro, is a Crohn’s patient. Marc was diagnosed at age 13 with Crohn’s disease. As any parent knows, seeing your child suffer and knowing you can’t make it better, is devastating. In spite of high hurdles and difficult years, we are fortunate. Marc is doing very well. In his own words,

“I’d like to think I’m living proof that you can live with IBD and not let it control your life. I’ve played music semi-professionally since college, I’ve produced a music festival, I’ve had an illustrious journalism career, I’ve hiked in numerous national parks, and I’ve traveled all over the world. I’m not trying to brag, but to hopefully inspire others who may be feeling like there are forces working against them as I felt in the past. You can achieve your goals and you can live a fulfilling life.”

My goal is to help find a cure for all forms of IBD. I hope you will join me on this journey. There are so many ways to help! You can walk with us, donate or simply share our message. I want to thank everyone in advance for their support in this crucial mission.

Our News & Happenings

Our Women in Business Committee’s Sip & Shop Crawl Was a Blast!

On May 4th, the Northwest Chamber’s Women in Business Committee supported our member stores in Glyndon and Main Street, Reisterstown. Attendees traveled from Charlotte’s Corner to The Boxwood Collection and then Kacadas on Main Street. They ended their day at Sunset Slushie in Glyndon. Tons of fun. Go to our member stores for creative and unique gifts.
