October is almost here. Flip – flops are put away (for some of us!), beach chairs are stored until next summer and outdoor pools have been closed. Autumn is here, and that means 2019 is coming fast.
October is also the start of your 3rd quarter. Now is the time to review what happened in 2018 so far, then plan on how to make the last three months of the year end with a bang. In addition, now is the time to begin planning for 2019.
You should begin your strategic plan now because December is too late. Think about what you can change as well as expand. Begin to set budgets for marketing, employee costs, equipment and materials if needed, professional services and more. Once these budgets are created, then begin your business planning for 2019.

CCBC Offering FREE Workshops for Budding Entrepreneurs
Learn strategies for turning good ideas into sustainable businesses.
Baltimore County, Md. (Aug. 20, 2018)— Community College of Baltimore County’s Center for Business Innovation is offering FREE workshops for aspiring entrepreneurs seeking to start their own business. Through an introductory program titled “Business Ownership: A Realistic Preview of Opening a New Business,” get access to resources, tips and strategies for turning ideas for new products and services into a sustainable business.
This free workshop will be offered at four convenient CCBC locations:
- 9 – 4 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 29, CCBC Hunt Valley
- 6 – 9 p.m., Tuesday/Thursday Oct. 2 and Oct. 4, CCBC Owings Mills
Participants who qualify may also participate in CCBC’s Center for Business Innovation’s Annual Business Plan Competition where winning business proposals can earn support for a start-up business and up to $10,000 in seed money. The competition begins November 2018.
